Fitzie Grogan Petersmeyer died February 15, 1985, at the age of 33 after a long struggle with cancer. Established to carry on her spirit, The Fitzie Foundation makes annual awards to recognize outstanding young women from the institutions that featured most prominently in Fitzie’s life.

The time I spent abroad thanks to the Fitzie Foundation grant were the best two weeks of my life — from exploring new places, to meeting a variety of exciting and unique new friends.
